Technology in the classroom! ( & How to incorporate it into yours!)

Image
I'm sure when you think of technology in the classroom you think of projects and hunky televisions but there are so many new things that can be incorporated into the classroom for learning. Not only are projects and Televisions still great tools to use, but there are also others.  For example, many teachers have done away with making students take notes on traditional pen and paper, as there are apps such as Goodnotes and OneNote which allow students to use Ipads and computers for notes.  There are platforms such as Google Classroom and Canvas that are available to teachers for free use, you can upload work, quizzes, and go completely paperless. This will not only help our environment but will aide in losing student's work as it will always be there for you or them to access.  (Video above for google classroom) The best way to decide what technology to use in your classroom is to first look at the subject you're teaching, does it require a lot of technology, can your lesson

About my classroom

About My Classroom My classroom is modern, I utilize a lot of technology. Students have their own assigned laptops for classtime use and all assignments are paperless.  I try to teach with more of a discussion-based style because students tend to enjoy history more that way, versus throwing a bunch of names and dates at them to remember. I don't believe that my students have to know every single date or name for them to learn, they need to understand what, and why these events happened. That's what is more important.  I use a lot of self-directed activities in class, for example; WebQuests, online quizzes, or virtual walkthroughs of different subjects. This allows the student to learn at their own pace, and understand the lesson.  All of my lessons include accommodations for exceptional, and ELL students.
